Dezerea Bryant And Chidera Obasih Rewrite Dash Records

In the preliminaries of the 2009 State Meet Milwaukee Bradley Technical's Dezerea Bryant and Milwaukee North's Tasha allen set the 100m dash records by recording 11.76 in different heats.
On Saturday, June 5, Bryant broke the 100m dash record by blazing to a 11.50 clocking in the finals of the 100m dash event. Bryant is pictured on the left in the 200m preliminaries held Friday, June 4.

The 200m D1 finals were held in a driving rain storm. The slick surface did little to slow Dezerea Bryant who broke the 200m State Record in the 200m dash which she set in the preliminaries on Friday, June 4.
In the prelims Bryant had broken Chidera Obasih's record of 23.85 [set in the prelims of the 2009 State Meet] by posting a 23.58. In the rain Bryant was clocked in 23.37 to set a D1 and an All-Division record for the 200m dash.

Tasha Allen set the D1 and All-Division record in the 400m dash in the preliminaries of the 2009 State Meet with a time of 55.19. Brookfield Central junior Chidera Obasih broke that record in the finals of the D1 400m dash on Saturday, June 5, with time of 55.18. Tahje Whittley a Milwaukee Bradley Technical junior is pictured above in the Saturday finals where she finished second with a time of 55.51 [time for Whittley shown below was readjusted].

The weather at La Crosse was great on Friday and most of Saturday. However the weather changed from June 5 to early November as the 200m races began. Burlington Catholic Central's Gretchen Homan successfully defended her 200m title which she won in 2009. The 400m dash ended with a razor thin margin separating first and second. Independence - Gilmanton junior Bria Halama [above left, #6] is pictured above and below closing on Burlington Catholic Central's Gretchen Homan with 40 meters to go in the 400m dash. Halama posted a 56.56 to barely edge out Homan the defending D3 400m champion who was timed in 56.58.
