74'th Annual Midwest Cross Country Invite

In the girls portion of the meet teams separated into ninth-tenth, varsity, junior varsity, and middle-school races. The number of runners for each race:
  • 9-10 race: 136
  • Varsity race 221
  • JV race 462
  • Middle-School race 181
1000 girls ran on Saturday at the Midwest Cross Country Invite. In addition to teams from Wisconsin, teams from Iowa, Illinois, and Houston, TX participated in the 74th annual Midwest Meet.

Molly Seidel [University Lake School] ran the fastest time in Wisconsin Girls Cross Country history. Followup-Olympics.

Isabel also is on the Field Hockey team at ULS and had a game on Friday. Isabel will get her road work in while her teammates in Field Hockey are warming up.

Above right: The Seidel sisters prepare for the countdown and the start. Molly ran a 13.34 earlier this season at the Arrowhead Invitational. That was the fastest time recorded in Wisconsin State Cross Country history. However under ideal weather conditions she blazed to a new record at the Midwest Cross Country Invite.

Early In The Race

The Midwest Meet was run under clear skies and ideal temperatures in the mid 50's. After the Girls Varsity race a cloud front moved in but conditions remained dry. The meet also featured 9-10 races, junior-varsity, and middle school races.

The Regents from Madison West finished second at the Midwest with a score of 71 and were ranked third in the D1 week 4 rankings. The Arrowhead girls team was ranked #2 in the D1 week 4 rankings. The team finished in third at the Midwest with a score of 74.
