2021 Myrhum Invitational At Arrowhead

Weather could not stop the annual Myrhum Track and Field Invitational as host Arrowhead moved the meet one day to Saturday in order to escape the very cold weather and rains during the original scheduled date of the meet. The meet is named after Dick Myrhum the original head coach who started the boys track and field team at Arrowhead in 1962. Athletes competed in ideal weather at Arrowhead. Twenty-nine teams scored points with Arrowhead winning the meet with 69 points followed by Kimberly [61], Middleton [56], Homestead [56], and Shorewood [51]. Three records were broken in the girls meet. Senior Kylie Finger [800m - 2:14.55, Oconomowoc, photo from 2019 WIAA- she broke Dodgeville/MP runner Molly Hanson's record of 2:15.48 set in 2012], Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg's junior Kaycie Martensen [1600m], and Shorewood's sophomore Delea Martins [200m]. Martensen also won the 3200m while Martins won the 400m dash. Arrowhead's 4x4 and 4x8 were meet winners in the relays.

1600m Run
In the 1600m race Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg's Kaycie Martensen and Middleton's Lauren Pansegrau ran shoulder to shoulder for most of the race. Martensen sprinted home with the win in a record time of 4:54.27. This broke the old record of 4:54.93 set by Samantha Valentine of Middleton in 2016. Long Jump
Rachel Blaskowski from Oak Creek saved her best for last as she soared 18' 06 on her last jump to win the LJ event. Second place went to Divine Saviors Holy Angel's Caitlyn O'Brien who was 1/4 of an inch behind. O'Brien's 18' 05.75 came on her second jump in trials.

High Jump
Waunakee sophomore Kayla Saleh who set a Waunakee school record of 5' 08 at the Stoughton Quad on May 21 won the Myrhum HJ title with a height of 5' 02. Saleh is shown above on approach and then clearing 5' 02.

4x100m Relay
1/100th of a second separated the first and second place teams in the 4x1 race. Mukwonago edged Oak Creek 50.17 to 50.18 to win the 4x100m relay race. Mukwonago's sprint relay team above L-R: Olivia Carey, Elizabeth Eilertson, Taylor Boucher, and anchor Lilly Cobb.

4x200m Relay
Homestead with its finish at the Myrhum moved to the top of the Honor Roll May 29th listing for the 4x200m relay. The Highlanders posted a 1:45.29 in winning at the Myrhum meet. Runners above L-R: Bailey Timmer, Theodora Krueger, Eva Brandenberg, and anchor Korynne Moga.

4x800m Relay
Arrowhead and Middleton opened the meet with an intense spirited race in the 4x8. The host Arrowhead team edged Middleton 9:48.19 to 9:49.17 to win the 4x8. Shorewood which has the top D2 4x8 time as of May 29th [9:42.64-Carrelton Sitz Inv. at WISCO on May 22] finished 3rd in 10:01.39.
