2022 Big Rivers Conference Meet

Monday, May 16, 2022, at Menomonie HS. Results.

On an ideal night for a track and field meet athletes had many outstanding performances. Menomonie hosted Eau Claire Memorial, Eau Claire North, Hudson, New Richmond, Rice Lake Area School District, and River Falls at the Menomonie High School - Sports Complex. Chippewa Falls junior Brooklyn Sandvig not only set four conference records in the 100m, 200m, 400m dash events and the long jump she also had Top 50 All-Time Athlete performances that moved her up in the Top 50 listings in all four of those events. In the photo composite above she is shown at the finish and on the backstretch of the 400m dash event in which she recorded a 54.59 which broke the previous record of 55.70 she set at the 2021 Conference Meet. Coach Jami Holum's Hudson Raider team won the team title with 147 points with Eau Claire Memorial 2nd, New Richmond 3rd, and River Falls 4th.

4x800m Relay

100m Dash
At the 2021 Conference Meet in the 100m finals Chippewa Fall's dash athlete Brooklyn Sandvig posted a 12.14 to set a BRC Record. In the 2022 BRC 100m finals Sandvig rocketed to a 11.63 to set a new Conference Record and establish a new Top 50 time for her in the 100m dash event. Runners in the finals above L-R: Becca Fentress [ECM, 3rd, 12.74], Angie Binderman [NR, 5th], Champion Brooklyn Sandvig, and 2nd place finisher Rebecca Randleman [RF, 12.60]. Later in the meet Sandvig blazed to a time of 23.97 to not only win the 200 but to establish a new BRC Record in the 200m dash. The old record that Sandvig set in 2021 was 25.07. Sandvig's previous Top 50 times were 11.94 HHT [McDonell Outdoor Meet 2022] and 24.44 HHT [McDonell Outdoor Meet 2022].

Besides throwing the shot and discus for the Cardinals Faith is also busy as a student at Chippewa Falls and with photography at Faith Ella Photography.

Jacobsen won the 1600m in 5:03.06 and then came back later in the meet to post a 10:57.47 to win the 3200m run Championship. In the 3200m run Loew was secong and Heth 3rd..

400m Dash
Brooklyn Sandvig a junior from Chippewa Falls nearing the finish line with a record setting 54.59 time in the 400m Dash event. Katie Kopin from River Falls had set the old record of 57.91 in 1998 which Sandvig broke with a 55.70 at the 2021 BRC Meet. Sandvig's time betters her previous 400m Top 50 performance of 55.32 set at the Willard Hanson Invitational at La Crosse Central on May 5, 2022.

Long Jump
Hudson's Maddie Nelson had set the BRC Record in the long jump in 2016 with a distance of 18' 03.50. Chippewa Falls junior Brooklyn Sandvig on her 2nd jump in final's soared 19' 05.50 to establish a new BRC Record. The middle and right photo above show her winning/record jump. Her jump improves her former Top 50 distance of 19' 02.75 set in 2021 at the Rice Lake Invitational.

Left and center: Eau Claire North senior Saraya Davis had a throw of 44' 00 to secure the BRC Championship in the shot put. Right: Taylor Schulz a senior from Rice Lake is shown in the shot put in which she placed 3rd with a throw of 36' 11. She was the BRC Champion in the discus with a best throw of 132' 00.
